At last the President of the Balearic government, Jose Ramón Bauzà, has reduced the Mallorca MPs from 33 to 23 members. Menorca and Ibiza will also lose four each. By axing 18 members of the Parliament, the saving on the wage bill will be around 4.8 million euros a year. Bauza included other changes which will mean that politics is no longer to be looked at as a full time job but as a period of public service. “We want to attract the best calibre of people to parliament. People who have a professional career, who at the same time are willing to give up some of their time to be a politician or MP”
